Light the Night and Fall Kayaking

This weekend went by too fast!

Friday night we went downtown Grand Rapids to walk around and check out ArtPrize 2012. They did an awesome thing this year... they gave out something like 200,000 Chinese Lanterns to the public and had a massive lantern launch at dark. They called it "Light The Night" and it was amazing! If anyone has seen the movie "Tangled", it was like that!! It was incredible.
Those are all lanterns!! With the sillouette of the Amway Grand Hotel in the background! So cool!!

Rick brought the kayaks home from the cottage so we could go kayaking on the Rogue River. We went about five miles yesterday and the scenery was absolutely beautiful! The colors this time of year are amazing!! We took these pictures with Rick's phone, and it didn't do them justice, they were beautiful!!

Not sure why Rick was taking an infa-red picture of his feet... wearing his Crocs... at least they're good
for walking in the river...

Ha! So true.

Happy Fall!

  1. My husband and son saw the lanterns from the Comstock Park football game and said they were beautiful! BUT a girl posted on Facebook that they were standing on the bridge somewhere where lanterns were coming down in droves and one man's hair actually started on fire and there were so many people on the bridge she couldn't get her kids out. She said it was horrific...beatiful in the sky though!

    1. Yes, I could see how they could be dangerous!! We were on one of the bridges as well and some people were not letting their lanterns fill up with enough hot air before letting them go, which caused them to not float upward! One of my friends almost got burned! Scary!
