Quinn- 7 Months!

Quinn is 7 months old today! Rick asked me last night, "Isn't it crazy that she's been in the outside world for almost as long as she was in your belly?" Umm... if he doesn't remember, she was in there for ten months... so, we have a few months to go before we reach that point.

Kick!

Anyways, being her parents is so fun! She makes us laugh all the time. For instance, as I type this, she is scooting toward the computer, but Chevy is in the way, so she has decided to just try and take his toy instead. Now, she is getting covered in doggy kisses and is trying to grab his tongue... lol!

Here is what she is up to at 7 months:

Weight: According to our scale at home, Quinn weighs 17 lbs. 7 oz. this month! So she has gained almost a pound since her six month appointment, which was less than a month ago! She is wearing 6 month clothes and some 6-9 month things fit, depending on the brand, but most are still a little large.

"Mom's taking more pictures of me... what's new?"

Sleep: Quinn is still sleeping great at night. A few nights, we've had trouble getting her to go to sleep, but once she fell asleep, she slept her normal 12 hours. Nap time has been a different story. I got used to her taking 1.5-2 hour naps twice a day.... For the past two-ish weeks, she's been fighting her nap times. She won't fall asleep at first, and once she finally does, she doesn't sleep long at all. It's been very frustrating! Oh well, I guess we're just lucky she still sleeps at night.

Foods: Quinn eats "solids" (purees) two times a day- once in the morning and once at dinner time. I've been making most of her baby food for at home and buying some to take with us when we go places. She loves fruit, with the exception of bananas. She doesn't like them unless they're mixed with another fruit or oatmeal. Her favorite food has got to be applesauce. She is not a fan of vegetables at all either. If I give her a plain vegetable, she gags and sometimes even spits it out at me! So, lately, I've either been mixing veggies with applesauce or giving her the packets of mixed veggies and fruits. Quinn loves eating puffs and pieces of avocado (yes, she likes avocado now!) on her own. They rarely get into her mouth at this point. Most of them just stick to her hands or fall down the front of her, but when she does get one in her mouth she is thrilled. It's soo funny to see her "chew" with her two little chompers. She likes to drink water out of her sippy cup after her solids, but she still drinks a 6 oz. bottle of formula every 3 hours as well. I've been trying to make her go every 4 hours, but she just doesn't seem ready for that transition yet. 

Likes: Quinn loves her jumperoo! She learned how to jump in it a few weeks ago, and now jumps like crazy!! She pretty much loves any toy or book that I put in front of her, as long as she can put it in her mouth. Everything goes in the mouth. One favorite toy that hasn't changed is Sophie the Giraffe. She loves to chew on Sophie, and has loved it since she was three months old. Quinn also likes doggies. Every morning, she smiles and laughs when she first sees Chevy. She loves when he gives her kisses, (even though I don't love it). She likes to kick her feet, especially when she's lying in her crib. She kicks SO HARD too, all we hear is "BOOM BOOM BOOM"! I can't imagine that it feels good on her feet, but she just keeps kicking away. Quinn enjoys most music, but songs from "Frozen" are her absolute favorite. She gets super giddy when either one of us starts singing "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman" or "Let It Go". I think she might take after her momma with her love of Disney and musicals... looks like we have a lot of those in our future (YES!!).

Dislikes: Quinn dislikes vegetables, like I said. She doesn't like the fact that she can't crawl yet! She rolls and rolls to her sides, but when she needs to move forward to reach a toy she gets so frustrated. She pushes up with her arms, but just hasn't quite grasped the concept of using her legs to scoot. Quinn also dislikes when mommy or daddy walk out of the room. She likes to have us in her sight at all times, and when we're not, she gets mad!

Health: We have no colds or sickness to report this month! Quinn's a healthy girl!

Social: Quinn is such a happy girl around people she knows. She is wary of strangers and will usually just stare at them blankly if they talk to her. She definitely knows who we are, who her grandparents are, and who some of our friends are. It seems like she likes other babies. This past weekend, we had our friends Chelsi and Jaime up to the cottage and she tried to pat her baby friend Micah's head a few times. She also smiles and talks to her own reflection in the mirror.

Quinn, your mommy and daddy are enamored with you! Every day is a new adventure, and we love watching you grow! Time is just flying by, and I have a feeling that you'll start crawling this month. WI don't think we're ready for that!! We'd better start baby proofing this house!!
